In the Pit Artists

Brian Chia

Brian graduated in 2005 with a degree in Visual CommunicationMultimedia) and a fresh graduate of Middlesex University London in MAin Design for Interactive Media. His works have garnered numerous wins including the 2003 Crowbar Awards and 2007 D&AD Student Global Awards. Currently pushing his skills into the array of interactive programming, he is setting out to make a name for himself in both illustration and interactive media.


Christopher Chua

I lived in a world of organized Post-its by Christopher Chua is a mixed media illustration using Chinese ink and Post-it notes depicting social & culture restrain. Christopher Chua is a 2nd year Design for Performance student in Central Saint Martins. The work is a reflection of the artist as a theatre magic maker and artist in the budget starved society.


Noelia Flores & Andy Garnett

East is a result of photographic journey through the southern Indian district of Kerala inNovember 2007. The images were taken using two old 35mm compact cameras to achieve both an honest documentary and a hazily ethereal Keralan life.

Andy and Noelia are formally trained in Graphic Design. Andy studied at Middlesex University and Noelia at Central Saint Martins. They both share a passion for photography and the power of the still image.


Sandhya Shyam

After living in Jamaica, UK, Seychelles and Australia, Indian-born Sandhya found herself at age 21 in Singapore. Contrast and change being a persistent thread in her life, the tiny island state provided plenty of that. During the nine years in which Singapore was home, Sandhya witnessed the significant change in a nation seeking its own voice and identity.
Her photography series of Teochew Chinese Opera is an expression of her personal observations and simple visual pleasure.


Xin Xiaochang


Her work explores the terrain of tradition and the intrinsic qualities of objects which are mostly influenced by art, travel, memories of her childhood experiences. Her sculptures exhibits intrinsic values of comfort and sentiment.

Xin Xiaochang graduated from the University College for the Creative Arts with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied & Decorative Arts and is currently living and working in Antwerp.


Vivian Chan & Zehra Arslan

Vivian Chan, an architect-artist and Zehra Arslan, a mix-media artist will be showing a centre-piece site specific work, Untitled #1. This installation piece is part of a distillation of a series of intense thought and creative processes which explores milk’s inherent connections to life. The installation consists of a life-size human form on a raised chair- leaning longingly towards an inverted milk bottle.
